The LeRoy Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Probationary Police Officer. There is a 45 mile residency requirement within 180 days of hire, and the chosen applicant must sign a 3 year commitment to LeRoy PD to receive the extensive training. The starting annual salary range is $60,675 to $63,217.20 for non-certified, Lateral transfers/certified applicants may start at a higher rate (please inquire). Steps
1. Complete City Application
2. Orientation Feb 14, 2026 8:00 AM at LeRoy PD.
3. Physical Agility Test (State of Illinois POWER test). Pass/Fail. Feb 14, 2026 following orientation. (waived for IL certified applicants)
4. Written Exam. (National Police Officer Selection Test). Pass/Fail. Feb 14, 2026 following POWER test.
5. Initial Background Investigation.
6. Formal Interview by Interview Panel.
7. Extensive Background Investigation.
8. Conditional Offer of Employment made to Chosen Applicant.
9. Psychological Testing.
10. Medical, physical, and drug testing.
11. 16 week in house police academy at the University of Illinois Police Training Institute.
12. 12-16 week Field Training Program at LeRoy PD.
