Come relive the days when steam whistles could be heard off in the distance - when the Big Four connected to the Punkin' Vine.  Learn about the fascinating history of the two lines and how they played a vital part in the growth and development of the area.  Discover the key players and the rise and fall of two significant railway lines that once served the buisnesses and citizens of Le Roy, IL.

Presenter Mike Sypult is a lifelong railroad fan and historian.  Although he was born and still lives in Rogers, Arkansas, his late father's roots are in McLean and DeWitt County towns of Glen Avon, Bellflower and Farmer City.

Mike taught at the University of Arkansas for 15 years and is now Senior Pastor of Friendship Church in Springdale, AR.  He serves as editor of the Arkansas Scrambler, a monthy publication of the Arkansas Boston Mountains Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.  Mike has presented railroad history throughout the Midwest.

Mike is a member of the Railway & Locomotive Historial Society, the Illinois Central Railroad Heritage Association and is founder and moderator of the 1,200-member Arkansas Railroad History on Facebook.  He has developed railroad-based programs for Elderhostel and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Arkansas.
