COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

LeRoy Police Department's Driver's Education Informational Program

Each Semester, at the invitation of the LeRoy High School Driver's Education program, Officers from the LeRoy Police Department address the school's driver's education classes.

Officers instruct students on a variety of topics including common traffic offenses, what to do if they are stopped, what to do if they receive a traffic citation, and what to do if they are involved in a traffic crash. Officers stress the importance and implications of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs and urge students to avoid Driving Under the Influence or getting into a vehicle with someone who is under the influence.

Officers educate students on why police officers follow certain procedures on traffic stops and interactions with the public in order to promote understanding, communication, and trust between students and the police.

Officers encourage students to contact Officers of the LeRoy Police Department with any questions or concerns, and provide students with a variety of methods of contacting police.

Wednesday May 30, 2007 Officers of the LeRoy Police Department-

Were once again fingerprinting children at LeRoy Elementary School. This time though the fifth and sixth graders not only got their fingerprints taken but also a DNA sample was also collected by way of a cotton swab, which was placed in a sealed envelope and attached to the information card.
The department, with the gracious assistance of Mr. Jack Milan of LeRoy McDonald's, hopes to be able to sponsor more child identification sessions in the future. Thanks again to everyone at LeRoy Elementary School including the kids, "You did GREAT kids!" Have a fun and SAFE summer!
