MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON MARCH 1, 2010
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Mayor Steve Dean with all council members present at roll call except Dawn Thompson. Staff members present were Sue Marcum, Corey Edgington and Gordon Beck.
Jerry Reynolds owner of Kirby Foods was in attendance at the meeting to speak to the council regarding his company’s proposal to build a new IGA Store.
Included on the consent agenda were the February 15, 2010 City Council Minutes and the listing of invoices payable in the total amount of $132,845.29. Motion was made by T.A. and seconded by Shirley to approve the consent agenda. Boyd did not feel the council should consider approval of the minutes until they received the results of a legal review of the State’s Attorney’s letter addressed to Mayor Steve Dean regarding a possible open meetings act violation. Roll call: Dawn Hanafin-no, Nancy Bentley-no, Julie Duncan-no, John Haney-no, Shirley Chancellor-no, Boyd Denner-no, T. A. Whitsitt-no. Motion failed 0 yeas, 7 nays.
Motion was made by Boyd and seconded by John to table the minutes of the February 15, 2010 City Council Meeting and include them on the next regular council meeting agenda. Roll call: Dawn Hanafin-yes, Nancy Bentley-yes, Julie Duncan-yes, John Haney-yes, Shirley Chancellor-yes, Boyd Denner-yes, T. A. Whitsitt-yes. Motion carried 7 yeas, 0 nays.
Motion was made by Boyd and seconded by John to approve the listing of invoices payable in the total amount of $232,845.29. Roll call: Dawn Hanafin-yes, Nancy Bentley-no, Julie Duncan-no, John Haney-yes, Shirley Chancellor-yes, Boyd Denner-yes, T. A. Whitsitt-yes. Motion carried 5 yeas, 2 nays.
Motion was made by Dawn H. and seconded by Shirley to table the Fund & Department Expense Budget 2010-2011 until the March 15, 2010 Council Meeting. Roll call: Dawn Hanafin-yes, Nancy Bentley-yes, Julie Duncan-yes, John Haney-yes, Shirley Chancellor-yes, Boyd Denner-yes, T. A. Whitsitt-yes. Motion carried 7 yeas, 0 nays.
Minutes of the 03/01/10 meeting continued.
