Founded in 1991 and sponsored by LeRoy Historical Society the museum is located in lower level of J.T. and E.J. Crumbaugh Library. The museum officially opened on July 4, 1991 with over two hundred people visiting the museum the first day. The museum is handicapped accessible and is open to the public free of charge on Saturdays 1 ñ 4pm with a Historical Society member as a host. Tours are available by appointment by calling 309-962-9391, 309-962-9244. or 309-962-9256.

Glass display cases were brought in and are now filled with memorabilia from LeRoyís past. Members constructed shelves along the north and south walls and then placed a hanging rail near the ceiling. There are also tables set up for displays. Displays are changed periodically.

          Displays that have been shown during the past nine years include:

  • Antiques valentines, Indian artifacts, green depression ware dishes, green handled kitchen utilities old aprons and kitchen utilities.
  • Abe Lincoln, Peter Rabbit, Thomas Edison, Charleston era, and World War II displays.
  • Wedding, musical, picnicking, and barber/beauty shop displays.
  • Old dolls, hats, baby clothes, quilts and needlework have also been exhibited.
  • There have been Boy Scout, firemen, medical, railroad and businessmenís displays.
  • Christmas dollhouses and dolls and Santa Clause have been seen at the museum.
  • Old clocks, old banks, key chain, sewing machines and shoe repair displays.
  • Collections have included tiny ceramic shoes, glass birds, teddy bears, tin canisters, and corn ware.
  • Miniature farm toys, old toys and games, jewelry, thimbles, bells, and potpourri displays.
  • Church, alumni pictures, IGA store horse winter fun and 20th anniversary exhibits have also been held.

The northwest corner of the museum has been set aside for scene displays. Scenes that have been recreated include:

  •   A schoolroom, the How store, railroad, fall festival, farm equipment and a church.
  •    There have also been scenes from houses of the past that showed the porch, parlor, kitchen, and baby rooms.
  • Local LeRoy artisanís work can also be viewed in this area.
