Business Development Group LeRoy Business Development Group The LeRoy Business Development Group has been in existence since April 2006, and was formed after a series of meetings between local business owners, city officials, and others who were determined to have an active and aggressive business organization, in the style of a Chamber of Commerce. The LeRoy Business Development Group (BDG) is comprised of businesses, organizations, and individuals, whose goal is to develop, support, enhance, and grow the business community through community events, business promotions, business interaction, and public awareness campaigns. Monthly meetings for BDG members and guests are held as follows: Business-After-Hours: Second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m., usually at Water Tower Place. Brown Bag Luncheon: Third Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon, at Water Tower Place. These gatherings include short business meetings, event and activity planning, and, sometimes, a speaker. The monthly meetings, a quarterly newsletter, and regular “e-News” correspondence keep members informed and aware of local issues, opportunities, and upcoming events. The BDG maintains Water Tower Place, a city-owned meeting and banquet facility that is available for private rentals. We regularly organize and host a number of community events, such as SummerFest, Christmas Celebration, “Boo-Fest,” and other celebrations of small-town living. Information about all festivals and celebrations is available by clicking on “Department of FUN” on the city website home page. The business community has sponsored the annual “Scholarship Auction” for eighteen years. This popular event raises funds for scholarships for graduating seniors of LeRoy High School, and is supported by virtually every business and organization in the community. Other BDG activities include “Welcome Packets” for new residents, a Business/Services directory printed twice-annually, maintenance of a website complete with business/services directory, a Business Expo open to all local businesses, and shopping awareness campaigns, such as the 2006 “Shop at Ho! Ho! Home” during the holiday season. We welcome new members, and invite all businesses, including home-based businesses, to join the BDG. Local organizations and individuals are also welcomed as members. For membership information, or general information about the BDG, please visit our website at www.leroybiz.org.
